Staffing and employment: advice for schools

Ready reckoners and transition matrices for key stage 2

Guidance

These ready reckoners and transition matrices apply to 2018 key stage 2 provisional data, and 2017 key stage 2 revised data.

Ready reckoners

The pupil progress ready reckoner calculates progress scores in reading, writing and maths for an individual pupil.

The school progress ready reckoner shows how a school’s progress scores are calculated from individual pupil progress scores in each subject.

Transition matrices

Transition matrices explore national distributions of key stage 2 outcomes in English reading, writing and mathematics for pupils sharing the same key stage 1 prior attainment.

Performance table headline measures - pupils who achieved the expected standard or expected standard or higher - are also included.

Data protection: privacy notice model documents

Guidance

Providing accessible information to individuals about the use of personal data is a key element of the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation.

Alongside free schools there are university technical colleges (UTCs) and studio schools. These are mainly for 14- to 19-year-olds.

Basic maths Centres for Excellence: list of institutions

Transparency data

A list of 21 institutions selected in October 2018 to be Centres for Excellence for basic maths.

The programme provides grant funding to build teaching capacity. It also supports best practice on what works to improve basic maths for learners over the age of 16 with low prior attainment.

Centres will trial pedagogical approaches and share this expertise across the post-16 sector.
